    Dashboard! This Week:  Lightning Round, Holiday Plans It's been a busy few weeks, in part because of the impending arrival of our annual holiday, this year a two week trip to Australia.  I'm bad at getting excited for holidays because I generally spend so much time mentally processing the things that need to be done before we go away that I can't really relax until I am through airport security and it starts to feel real.  What this has meant though is I have been listening to albums at a far faster pace than I've been able to find time to sit down and write about them, so I'm working at a significant deficit at the moment.  In an effort to go on holiday with as close to my desk clear as possible, my plan is to get all the outstanding albums documented in this wrap up.  In order to make it so it doesn't take forty hours to write, I am limiting myself to 50 words per album, in the hopes that cuts the core of what I want to say about each of them.   Dashboard!  Yes, I realised my post title numbering system was flawed, yes I went and retroactively fixed it, no it still probably doesn't make sense to anyone apart from me, I have made my peace with that. One week kind of down then;  certainly most of a week, and if I want to stay sane and run a Monday-Sunday week count, then this is the end of week 0/the start of week one.  As I said at the start, not every album or band I listened to is going to get a braindump blog post dedicated to them, some might just get a few words of explanation and we will move on.  I have a lengthier post in the chamber but I am saving that until next week. So, at the end of week zero, here's where the leaderboard stands:- I've listened to 24 albums in 5 days;  at this pace, Ian Wang will have been handily disposed of by August and I could really push myself and try and lap him and get to 2,000 as a flex.  I think we all know this rate isn't sustainable though.  Nic...

Yes, I remembered I was going to do this.  In fact, it's been playing on my mind since the end of November as I've started to think clearly about what accomplishing this feat is going to take.  As someone who's job involves thinking about numbers a great deal, I'm very aware of how seductive arbitrary numbers can sound.   "A thousand albums?," you think, "That can't be that hard?  I must have listened to more than a thousand albums in my life already that I liked and could go back to?  I'll just do that again, but faster." Think about your favourite, longest running bands.  I've spent more time on earth than I care to admit out loud now, so I have a few bands which I really love which have an extensive back catalogue of studio albums.  If I could get ten bands with ten albums in their discography that I love, then that's a significant chunk of the work done for me, right?
