0.5.1 - I don't want you, to be no slave

  Dashboard!  Quick, name a drink, any drink.  Anyone ready for a Diet Coke break?  Given there are about 20 people who seem to read what I write on here, I'm going to guess that at least 10 of you read the article title, heard the signature brass section refrain dah-dah-Dah-dah, da-DAH in your head, and then unbidden into your mind's eye followed images of nineties office employees objectifying construction workers across the street.  You can't help yourself;  for a certain generation of people, the most frequent incidence of you hearing that fragment of I Just Want To Make Love To You  was probably in ad breaks between TV shows.  You've been carefully conditioned to make that connection, over hundreds of repetitions. Psychology is obviously a valuable field of study, and advances in understanding our own mental health have been crucial for a whole host of people, me included; but whichever psychologist taught the advertising world all the tricks...

0.0.3 - You get what you give

  Dashboard!  Don't worry, when I am back at work, things will calm down and you won't have to endure me putting up blog posts every day or so, fictional reader.  Do I feel guilty producing these with dangerous regularity even though I have absolutely no expectation of anyone reading them?  Or is that a lie I am telling myself so I don't feel any rejection or disappointment when people choose not read them?  Should I expect people to?  Probably not, as my insights - such as they are -  are no more valid and informed than anything else on an internet rapidly trending towards uselessness.  This dialogue,, in tone if not in content, is generally what is going on in my head 90% of the time, which probably explains why I am perpetually trying to overwhelm my own inner monologue with other people's music.
